Delighted to share some of my work from my Master of Urban Design journey at CEPT - a comprehensive 560-acre walkable township design.
A walkable township is a community designed to prioritize pedestrian accessibility and convenience, enabling residents to fulfill most of their daily needs on foot. Key characteristics of a walkable township include:
A layout that ensures residential areas, workplaces, schools, shops, and recreational facilities are within walking distance of each other.
Wide, well-maintained sidewalks, crosswalks, pedestrian bridges, and paths that ensure safety and comfort for walkers.
Integration of residential, commercial, and recreational spaces to minimize the need for long commutes.
Abundant parks, gardens, and natural areas that provide pleasant, shaded routes and spaces for recreation.
The Vision for the Township is to:
1. Cater to all the day-to-day needs within close proximity
2. Establish physical and visual connections with the existing natural resources
3. Promote Walkability
